A Grant for Newly Licensed Certified Verbatim Reporter.

Newly licensed Certified Verbatim Reporters face financial and professional challenges as they establish their careers. To support these professionals and encourage growth within the industry, we have established a Professional Development Grant to provide financial assistance to eligible members and foster the next generation of court reporters.

Information

  • Funding Amount: $2,500
  • Number of Grants: 1 awarded annually at NVRA’s Annual Convention
  • Eligible Uses of Funds: Purchase of stenographic and dictation equipment/software,
    continuing education or certification renewals, membership fees
    for professional associations, or business startup costs.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the grant, applicants must meet the following requirements:
    • Certification: Must have obtained the Certified Verbatim Reporter (CVR) credential within the last 12 months.
    • Employment Status: Must be actively seeking or currently employed in the verbatim reporting field.
    • Professional Membership: Must be a member of NVRA in good standing.
    • Essay Submission: Must submit an essay detailing their career goals, financial need, and how the grant will support their professional development.
    • Letter of Recommendation: Must provide a letter from an employer, instructor, or mentor within the industry.

Application Process:

  1. Application Period: Applications will be accepted from March
    15, 2025 to May 15, 2025.

  3. Selection of Award: The Firm Owners Committee will review applications and select the recipient based on merit and need.
  4. Award Notification: The recipient will be announced at the Annual
    Convention.
